Tell us a little about yourself. What were you doing before you got started in the adult industry?
Before porn I was working as a finish carpenter – hanging doors, laying trim, etc. I like to say I’m a double tradesman who’s always worked with wood. From the beginning of 2020 until later 2022, I worked 50 hours a week in the trades and then went home, turned my webcam on and got to work all night. Those were very difficult years but looking back on them they really set the stage for where I am now.
You are incredibly proficient at providing performer identification documents (IDs) and proof of consent. With over 60 uploaded scenes, you aren’t missing a single Co-Performer ID or Release Form. Tell us about the importance of obtaining and keeping records in adult content production.
First off, thank you! In my opinion, record keeping is one of the most important components of running a successful business. Having all the necessary documents protects both you and the Models you’re working with. In my experience, it’s best to have full transparency with other creators and explain to them directly what you need and why.
It absolutely offers an added layer of safety. What is your process for getting documentation from another performer?
I let the Model know ahead of time there will be paperwork and to be prepared for that. I will send them my documents while I am next to them so we can go over what it says and the reasons I need the form filled out. I think this creates a solid foundation of trust and helps ensure no problems arise later. I usually have to follow up with them once or twice after the shoot but that’s just a part of the game.
How do you keep all your documentation organized and stored safely?
Anyone who knows me knows I’m a very “Type-A” kind of guy – I keep lists and folders that are color-coded and organized for just about everything. Thankfully, that level of functional mania transferred over to managing my professional documentation really well. It’s important to remember that if your business requires other people to provide their personal information, then it’s your responsibility to keep it safe. I recommend researching quality cyber security and password-locked folders.
Being that organized is a good thing! What has helped you get Co-Performer IDs and Release Forms approved on Pornhub in a single try? What roadblocks have you encountered in the process?
I think it’s important to establish your own process as early into your career as you can. I find if you set yourself up for success at the start, you usually have a much higher chance at success. One way to do this is to create your Release Form and have it looked over by professionals before sending it to sites for approval. Once they both sign off then you’re ready to send it to the Models and move along with your process. Keep it consistent so you never have to worry about missing anything.
Over the years I've definitely run into my fair share of roadblocks while getting IDs and forms approved. When you're an independent creator you are typically promoting yourself on many different free sites and platforms, so you have to know the rules and guidelines for each. There are some really harmful sites out there that purposefully stifle creators and do not allow them to promote their own personal paid sites. On the other hand, there are sites like Pornhub which actively respect and work with Models so that our viewers get the best experience possible. It's a good idea to learn all of these rules ahead of time so you can apply them when you're uploading IDs and forms.
Pornhub recently launched Collaborators, our new tagging system! How have you interacted with this new tool?
I think Collaborators is a great way for everyday creators to get their content published. Often times the process of verifying forms can be tedious and frustrating, so having a method that’s direct and clear is great for performers. I’ve used it a handful of times and it has been very easy.
Let’s talk about you and the community. Who are a few Models that we should check out in 2025?
Some of my favorite to work with are Nick Charms, Marcus McNeill, Christian Wilde & Apollo Fates. All these guys are doing incredible things and on top of it all they’re huge sweethearts too. Doing this job with people you love and care about is very rewarding, and I believe it makes for much better content.
When you aren’t being the documentation boss, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Outside of traveling and creating world class content, I try to fill my time with as many hobbies as I can. I’m a big gamer and play a lot of games like Overwatch, Fortnite, and Marvel Rivals. I’m also a frequent lifter and hiker so I’m always looking for new ways to keep active. Gogo Dancing is another thing I’ve been spending more time doing in recent years, so I’m excited to see where that goes as well.
What goals would you like to accomplish in the next 1-3 years?
I’ve put a lot of thought into this question recently. I recently formed Colt Spence Studios, LLC, where I plan on tackling some really fun projects with some of the hottest Models around! Then later this year I will be launching ColtSpenceXXX.com, a website for my entire library of content where members can subscribe to access new weekly content. You’ll also be able to purchase my exclusive merch through the site and fill your closet with all the hottest new Colt Spence apparel.
I love helping my fans figure out who they are and what they’re into, so I have no plans of stopping anytime soon. I have so many amazing ideas for content over the next few years and I can’t wait for Pornhub to be a part of it!
Additional Tips and Best Practices
In addition to Colt’s advice, we’ve added some additional tips to help you with your documentation. Providing paperwork is a common practice for Aylo-owned studios such as Brazzers, Reality Kings, and Men.com. It allows their operations to continue running smoothly and be fully compliant with 2257 record keeping requirements.
Check out some best practices from production companies below:
- Consider obtaining at least two pieces of government issued identification, especially in cases where you do not have a close personal relationship with the other performer.
- Carefully review the documents to ensure there are no visible signs of tampering or unusual wear and tear.
- Validate that the person shown in the photo ID is the same person you are working with.
- Do a quick calculation to ensure that their age is over 18. Consider using an online resource if it’s not clear. Example – https://www.calculator.net/age-calculator.html
- Ensure that the identity document(s) you are presented with are valid and not expired.
Rising to the top 50 Model ranking on PornhubGay is no simple task, but it can be made easier when documentation is in tip top order to release all your scenes!
